I recently interviewed for the Senior Digital Strategist position at Site Impact and wanted to share my experience. The initial stages, handled by recruiters, were good. They seemed professional and gave me good info about the job. But then they said the role reports to the COO, who they described as blunt, short, and direct. During the video interview with the COO, I saw the recruiters' description was true, but in a weird way. The COO was on her phone the whole time, texting or replying to chats. It was clear she wasn't listening. Sometimes she'd look up from her phone and ask a random question, then go right back to it. This really made me think about how the COO would manage the role. It was obvious in the first five minutes this wasn't the right fit. No matter my skills, the COO's lack of focus and disrespect during the interview showed this wouldn't be a good move. Based on this, candidates should know about the COO's management style. Site Impact might have other good things, but consider how this behavior would affect your daily work and job happiness.
