So I applied for this video editor job on Indeed, and the listing was pretty misleading. It said Mandarin was a plus but not required, and my Mandarin is pretty basic. I went to their office in Flushing, which was just a desk in the corner of a Chinese travel agency. The interviewer and his colleague were really cold and started talking to me in Mandarin. Turns out the main interviewer couldn't speak any English at all, and his colleague only spoke a little. I tried to tell them my Mandarin wasn't great, but they said it was okay. Then, when the interview really got going, I asked the colleague to translate something, and they both just smirked and laughed at me. I felt really insulted and brought up the 'Mandarin not required' thing on Indeed, and they just brushed it off saying it wasn't a big deal. I felt really lost and like they weren't being genuine. The next question was about my experience with mainland Chinese business, and when I said no, they said they preferred candidates with that experience and it might be a problem. Honestly, they should have put that in the job listing! I get that interviews are for understanding the candidate, but the language barrier is just not an excuse. Why have me travel to Flushing to meet someone who doesn't speak English? Plus, the interviewer was rude, arrogant, and left out crucial information. I'd seriously reconsider working with them; it was a terrible and discriminatory experience.

I received a phone call from the receptionist, and then scheduled an interview. I met with the VP of marketing, and we had a fun, casual conversation rather than a formal business interview.

the interview process is very brief. the boss pretended to be nice, but he didn't care too much. However, they required people can speak and write in chinese. This place doesn't require english too much. All the chinese people. So as long as you are pretty and speak fluent chinese, you will get hired.

The interview was easy. The interviewer was not so unfriendly. The whole interview lasted about twenty minutes. There totally were about 10 questions. The interviewer asked some strange questions like -- why did you choose our company since it was not so good. I urge people do not go to this company because it is horrible and untrustworthy.
