It was a pretty simple interview process. I talked to four people on the marketing team. I got to hear about what they're working on and the challenges they face, and I explained how I could help them out.

It was super long and dragged on forever. They really piled on the work but didn't offer much in return, like any real professionalism or respect for my time. The teams were all over the place and didn't talk to each other, which made the whole interviewing thing a nightmare. After chatting with the managers, it seemed like they had no clue what direction the company was heading or what SU was even about. I was asked how to make SU look more cutting-edge and innovative, which was a big red flag for me about the kind of company they are. Totally put me off the company. Wish I'd checked Glassdoor first.

All my interviews were over the phone or Zoom. I spoke with about 5 or 6 people, and they were all professional and helpful. What I found really great was how the recruiting team called me to let me know I didn't get the job, but they also explained why and told me what they liked about my application. They also mentioned they'd keep me in mind for future roles and encouraged me to stay in touch. This level of follow-up for candidates who aren't selected is pretty uncommon and I really appreciated it. It made me feel valued by the company, even though I didn't get the position.

I had an initial HR chat, but didn't move forward. A red flag appeared when the interviewer mentioned the company's bad reviews and past layoffs, framing them as a time of significant change. Her awareness of the concerning online comments suggested potential issues with company culture. However, the interviewer was professional and thorough, and it's possible the company has improved since those reviews. Ultimately, I did not advance.
