Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Sales Assistant
I got the interview and the job because I was referred by someone I knew and had 2 years of prior experience at a better-run TV network, CBS, doing the exact same thing. I thought I'd give the job and industry a second-chance, and Sinclair even paid a bit more than I was making at CBS! The interview experience was straight forward and they didn't ask me about my experience as much. They look for enthusiastic and young college grads that are willing to be paid a smaller salary and put up with the stresses of the job for the potential to become an AE or a Rep on the sales side of the industry.
- Tell me why you think you'd be a good fit for the role.
- Did you handle certain tasks in your past role as a Sales Assistant?
Sales Assistant
They were not overly tough in the interview. They just have fairly high expectations in candidates. Must have relevant work experience/college degree to even be considered. After offer you are required to take a drug test and background test. (You must not have more than 3 speeding tickets to be considered and your criminal history needs to be relatively clean).
- What are your personal weaknesses?
- What makes you the best candidate for this job?
- How do you see yourself fitting into this role?
Sales Assistant
The interviewer was really nice and asked a bunch of typical questions. We talked about salary at the end, and it was lower than I hoped, which the interviewer seemed to get. I asked if there was a chance for a raise or moving up later, but they weren't super optimistic about it. Nice people though, just not great pay.
- What would your coworkers say about you?
- How would you characterize your previous manager?
- Tell me about a time you had to manage a tough client and what you did.
