Behavioral Technical Coding System Design

Started with a recruiter screen, then there was a cognitive and behavioral assessment, followed by an interview with the hiring manager (who was interim at the time as they were looking for a permanent manager). Then there was a Python coding interview, a system design interview, a culture & values interview, and finally a data leadership interview. The cognitive and behavioral assessment felt a bit out of place. The last interviewer was late and asked questions about classical ML/DS, which were a bit hard to understand without explanation, and the intent only became clear after they explained what they were looking for.

Behavioral Technical

I had a connection refer me to a role, then a really positive interview with HR. I interviewed with the hiring manager and it went not so well. I was qualified for the role, I had good responses for their questions, I brought challenging questions for my side and yet they was overly negative the entire time. I tried to bring a positive energy, but I was met with pessimism about my qualifications. They ghosted me after. Sometimes people have a bad day and it holds true for the interviewer as well as the interviewee, but don't stack a negative experience without response. I would not suggest working in the product organization at this company.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a personality assessment test. I then had interviews with more than 5 people for the position. Ultimately, I received a rejection phone call from the recruiter stating they selected a candidate who could be closer to their Santa Monica office, which was disappointing given it was advertised as a remote role. I felt the entire process was geared towards scouting potential talent, despite them having already made their decision. A rejection email would have been sufficient, and I felt my time was wasted.

Behavioral Technical Other

It was a 3 round interview process. The first was behavioral. The second round was a bit technical and involved discussing skills and the role's responsibilities. Finally, there was an interview with the CIO. No leetcode-style technical interviews. Everyone was friendly. It's a good idea to prepare some questions to help the conversation. I would recommend it.

  • Tell me about your proficiency with Python and SQL.
