There were 2 calls initially, then an all day onsite with 10 people. The onsite itself was a bit chaotic - parking directions were unclear, no one to contact, and I was left waiting for a while between interviews. The follow-up was also slow, taking over a week. Most of the interviews were positive, but one of the most senior people was quite aggressive, asking rapid-fire behavioral questions without much dialogue, which felt impersonal. I also learned that about half the employees don't use their own product, and that 'change' is the thing people dislike most about working there. There's interim leadership right now. What I hoped for based on their description wasn't reflected in the experience, particularly regarding leadership. It made me question the role.

Had a phone call with the recruiter to chat about my background and why I was interested in the role. It was pretty laid back. Then I was invited for an in-person interview about a week later. We started with a tour, and then I had two separate interviews that were very open-ended and conversational. They focused on my work ethic, past experiences, what I knew about Simple, and how I'd handle different customer situations. Overall, it was a really helpful and enjoyable process.

I went through four interviews for this Test Automation Engineer role. First was a phone interview focused on culture. Then a video interview with the hiring manager covering both culture and technical aspects. The third was a technical interview, and the final one was an on-site interview in Portland. During the initial phone call, I was told the entire QA team is based in Portland and they might be looking for someone to relocate or be located there. I had applied for a remote position, but since they flew me out to Portland, I felt pretty confident about the opportunity, despite the long cross-country travel. The final interview was quite lengthy, around 3 hours, and included the whole QA team plus some developers. I felt I connected well with everyone, including the managers. I flew back home and got the news a few days later that they chose someone already in Portland. It felt like a bit of a waste of time, especially if they had already decided in the first stage.

I had two phone interviews, first with HR and then with the Hiring Manager. After that, I had two in-person interviews with some Support Team Managers. They asked standard questions like 'Tell me about a time you've dealt with a difficult customer' and about impossible situations with no good outcomes. They also gave me some test questions to check my communication style.
