So I had a standard in-person interview, which was a bit strange since many of their roles were still remote when I interviewed. The interview itself went pretty well, but the kicker is I'd actually worked there before in the exact same role in a different department. This previous contract was before COVID, and they ended up picking someone internal who didn't even know the job duties, from what I could tell. They didn't give me any reason for not hiring me, even though I got glowing reviews when I was there before.

The interview process for this Loan Assistant role was pretty straightforward. About a month after applying online, I had a phone screen. Then, I was scheduled for an in-person interview at their office. I met several team members there, and the vibe was really relaxed and friendly. Given my 18 years in banking, I felt comfortable with the work-related questions. The manager seemed to really value personality fit, which was a plus. I also met some of my potential peers, and they were all nice too. This bank is expanding quickly. Just a heads-up, the background check is thorough and includes a drug test.

I had a phone interview with someone from corporate HR. They seemed impressed and forwarded my information to the hiring manager. The next interview was with the hiring manager, a district manager, and someone from corporate. The branch hiring manager mentioned right away that she wasn't impressed with my attitude. She didn't say anything during the interview and just looked out the window. The other two discussed the company with me, asked a few questions, and then thanked me for my time. I'm a retiree reentering the workforce, and I expect to face this often.

The interview process can differ based on the specific role. For retail positions, it typically involves applying, completing a test, a screening interview with a recruiter, and then an interview with your potential manager. The interview content itself isn't standardized and can change depending on the interviewer, as there are no set questions they're required to ask. However, they generally cover common interview topics.
