Silverpop Interview Questions
& Process

I applied for the job through the recruiter in mid-June 2012 and they got my resume then. The HR office asked me some questions, both relevant and not so relevant to the job, and then I had a phone interview in early July. The first interview was two weeks later, and the second was at the end of July. I had three interviews total: a phone interview with the hiring manager, a face-to-face technical interview with four potential colleagues, and another interview with the hiring manager and the CIO. After the second interview, I emailed the recruiter a few times weekly for updates. She would reply with information from Silverpop's HR department, mentioning they needed more info from the other candidate. On August 15th, the recruiter called to say the position had changed and they needed to review it, add some new requirements, and restart the interview process.

I got referred to Silverpop by someone I knew a little. The interview was super casual. I answered their questions, but they seemed really distracted. Both interviewers were in ripped jeans and t-shirts. I asked some questions that basically got ignored. The job description wasn't really what they were looking for, and one interviewer even took a call and talked loudly in the room while I was answering the other interviewer. I got asked back for a second interview but turned it down. I figured I wouldn't be a good fit anyway, no matter how I felt about the interview.

I first applied for a Sales Operations Analyst role but they decided on an internal candidate. They asked if I was interested in a Marketing Analyst position instead, so I said sure. I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, which went well. Then I was invited to interview with the team. It was a 4-hour block with 5 different people. I interviewed with the hiring manager again, and felt very comfortable. We talked about the unusual parts of my resume and my previous experience. Next, I spoke with another Marketing/Product manager; this felt like a formality, and I thought it went okay. My third interview was with the web marketing person. She seemed confused about the role I was applying for and was looking for someone with more web analytics experience, which isn't my specialty. She was nice, though. My fourth interview was with their Salesforce.com Analyst. We had a lot in common since I'd applied for that job before, and I really enjoyed our conversation about CRM management philosophy. The fifth interview was with a divisional marketing person. He was super nice, and I felt a real connection with him too. I left feeling good about the whole thing. I sent thank you notes, but didn't hear back. It's pretty disappointing not to get any follow-up after such an extensive interview process.

I got an email to set up a phone interview. I did the phone interview with the manager and then didn't hear back for about 10 days. After that, I got an email about setting up an in person interview, and they said to plan for 4 hours. They sent an agenda for the in person interview which included talking with several people. The interview itself went okay, but I didn't end up getting an offer.
