First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Silvaco.
Web Developer
The whole process was super organized, from the HR conversation to the interview with the VP. I really felt well-treated from the start, everyone was friendly and understanding. The technical interviews were well-conducted and had problems consistent with those typically encountered on the job.
- Interview focusing on data structures (LeetCode)
- Interview focused on UI (Web) problems
General Counsel
This felt like a trial run for a new HR person, which felt like a waste of time. The person who was supposed to just observe and help the new hire ended up doing all the talking, which was really strange. It seems like it's a small, family-run business. It might be a good fit for some, but they seem very budget-conscious.
- Where is your residence?
- Do you enjoy working in a family business environment?
PDK Engineer
The interview was pretty straightforward. They started by giving me an overview of the work done at Silvaco. Then, we had a one-hour phone interview where they asked about my Master's projects and future aspirations. They also inquired about my research background in device fabrication and my coursework in Cadence layout design. My internship at UC Berkeley was a key point of discussion. A subsequent Skype interview was unfortunately cancelled.
- Can you detail how a MOSFET transistor operates?
- Could you elaborate on the projects you completed during your Master's degree?
- What are your career aspirations moving forward?
Intern
Had a 30 min informal chat about the summer project. Then they scheduled a 30 min technical assessment on standard python libraries like numpy and pandas. It wouldn't be too hard if you are familiar with the basics.
- Can you tell me about the summer project?
- Do you have experience with standard Python data science libraries such as NumPy and Pandas?
- How familiar are you with standard Python libraries like NumPy and Pandas?
