The process kicked off with a recruiter chat, a standard first interview covering my motivation for the role, why I'd be a good fit, salary expectations, and relocation. They asked a few technical questions, but they were pretty general since HR isn't really the expert there. After that, I interviewed with the Head of Data Science in Ireland. This was all about my career and data science expertise. He asked specific and detailed questions, and he has a PhD in Computer Science. It was a tough interview, but he was respectful and considerate. I didn't make it past this stage, but it was my first industry interview coming from academia, so I found it valuable.

The team seemed great, and I had a really good interview where it felt like our goals aligned. I was told we would move to the next steps, but then the team refused to work with my very tight schedule, as I could only do Monday or Friday interviews due to a family member passing. This gave me insight into the hiring manager's ability to collaborate with their team. I'm appreciative they showed their true colors before I considered taking the position there. Dodged a bullet and wouldn't consider them as an employer.

Recruiter reached out via email and we scheduled a call. He was about 20 minutes late for our virtual meeting. He then called me directly, and after I clarified I was already in the virtual meeting, he joined it. The interview was pretty straightforward. I then advanced to the next round with the hiring manager, followed by a third round with a peer. Things got weird after that. I had another offer and was very interested in Signify. I tried to get a timeline for the next steps from the recruiter, but he ignored my inquiries for about two weeks. He eventually responded, stating they were moving forward with an internal candidate because I had another offer and apparently 'don't have time to interview'. I contacted him to see if I could get an extension and suggested a call to discuss. He never replied and I received a rejection notice the next morning. It was disappointing after a month of interviewing to not get a call when there was confusion.

The recruiter I spoke with was very unprofessional. My initial 15-minute pre-screen call was mostly her talking about her family's medical issues. When she called about a possible offer, I was in an appointment and missed the call, letting it go to voicemail. She then called me back four times in less than a minute, and when I finally answered, she was rude because I said I needed to call her back in about 30 minutes. Because every interaction with the recruiter was so unprofessional, I decided not to move forward with the position.
