First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Signal.
HR Manager
I had a phone call and then an in-person interview. Both were pretty easy. I thought the in-person would have more questions about my experience, but they were more general. It wasn't bad though, and they were professional.
- Tell me about a time you handled a conflict.
Patrol Officer
It's a pretty basic interview. You go in, chat for about 30 to 45 minutes about your experience, some hypothetical situations, and whatever else comes up. If they think you're a good fit, they'll offer you the job. If not, you might have to do another interview or they might just say no.
- How much experience do you have in security?
Patrol Officer
A shift supervisor, who apparently wasn't expecting me for an interview, brought me in to talk with him and the manager. They asked about my past experience. Then they described what the job would actually be. They said I'd start as a gate guard, and patrol might become available later. I said that wasn't what the ad stated. The manager then said I wouldn't get a vehicle on my first day, unlike another branch. He got cocky and ended the interview, mocking me as I left. It felt like a bait and switch. Don't waste your time.
- What are your past qualifications?
- Do you have a driver's license?
- Do you have your Social Security card?
Accounting Assistant
I got an email from Signal 88 Security about a phone screening for a job I applied for, scheduled for the next day. They gave me the option to reschedule. I offered several times later that day and during my lunch breaks on other days. Later that day, Signal 88 Security emailed me saying the job was already filled. I've seen this kind of incompetence and bias from interns or less experienced people before, but I discovered this ineptitude was coming directly from their director of human resources.
- Was I provided an equal opportunity to demonstrate my ability to perform the required accounting functions and contribute to the growth of Signal 88 Security's business?
