First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SIG Group.
Software Engineer
The entire hiring process, from resume submission to the final decision, spanned about 4 to 5 weeks. It included an initial chat with the hiring manager, followed by a coding test and a technical interview. The final stage was a requirement round that involved a live coding session with the whole team watching. This setup felt a bit unusual as it's not how coding is typically done, where people usually have the space and time to think, research, and test their code independently. Having the team observe can put pressure on candidates to code faster, potentially at the expense of quality, which might not lead to the best outcomes. During the technical interview, the questions started basic but then veered into unrelated technical areas, even asking about subjects from different domains like PLCs.
- What motivates your interest in joining our company?
- What are your reasons for departing from your present organization?
Product Manager
It was a 3-round interview process, with the final round being an in-person meeting with the team heads. The questions were directly related to the job. The team seemed open and welcoming, and there was an opportunity to ask them questions as well. They also seemed interested in relocation possibilities and overall flexibility. English is the primary language for managing global teams, with regional language skills being important depending on the specific region managed.
- Can you tell us about your strengths?
- How do you approach product development and what is your knowledge of the markets?
- What are your thoughts on the industry and market landscape?
Contract Manager
So I had a phone screening with HR first. Then I had an interview with the department head. I was actually about to accept another job offer, but HR convinced me to wait for the final interview with SIG, promising a quick decision within 1-2 business days after. It's been 8 months since that last interview and I still haven't heard back from them. It's really disappointing how they handled the recruiting process; SIG really needs to get better at communicating their final decisions to candidates.
- Can you elaborate on your past work experience?
Mechanical Engineer
I had a phone call with SIG HR where they asked why I wanted to leave my current company and look for a new job. After that, I got to go to an in-person interview. It wasn't too hard, there were two recruiters who asked for details about the projects on my resume and some technical questions like 'how do you know about GD&T?'.
- Can you tell me the reasons for leaving your current job?
- What's your understanding of our company and why are you a good fit for us?
- In your opinion, what's the most challenging part of mechanical design?
