The interview experience was challenging due to the interviewer's communication style. One of them was pushy and dismissive, creating a non-respectful and unwelcoming environment. Despite my preparation and enthusiasm, the conversation felt confrontational. I think candidates should be treated with basic respect during interviews. Hopefully, the company will offer guidance to interviewers on professional and respectful communication.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The hiring process involved three main stages: first, a standard interview with the team lead and HR, followed by an assignment, and finally, an interview with a C-level executive. The entire process, from application submission to the final decision, spanned about six weeks. While the people I interacted with were very friendly and accommodating, and the technical test was interesting, the outcome was disappointing. I was led to believe the hiring decision was almost finalized, prompting me to decline another job offer. However, Sievo ultimately withdrew their offer due to my physical location, citing concerns about my flexibility and ability to travel, which I found hard to understand despite their honesty. It's also important to note that relocation costs for interviews are borne by the employee, something I wish I had known upfront. Despite the setback, I appreciate the candid explanation, though I believe more upfront clarity about such factors would save everyone time.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

The interview journey for the Solution Consultant role in Helsinki was quite smooth and interactive. I got speedy feedback after each step, and everyone was positive and professional. The questions were purposeful, not overly difficult. A case study involved analyzing a shared dataset to answer open-ended questions, which aligned well with the job description. There were 3 steps: first, an interview with the Project Manager, a Senior Solution Consultant, and HR; second, a case presentation with the Team Lead; and third, a final chat with a C-level executive.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • First interview: Mostly general questions to gauge your motivation and cultural fit, plus some questions about your past experiences.
  • Second interview: Technical questions about the case study, focusing on your reasoning for the outcome.
  • Third interview: Similar to the first, but with a stronger emphasis on soft skills and your alignment with the company culture.

Behavioral Technical Coding

The interview process began with a behavioral chat with the hiring manager. After that, I received a take-home assignment that took about 2-3 hours. It involved linking up to a database and figuring out how a report was made using SQL. There was also an SQL question about spotting duplicates, and I had to explain my reasoning. Finally, I interviewed with the Head of Data Engineering and the CEO. This part was mainly behavioral, with some discussion about technology.
