Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sierra Nevada Corporation.
Manufacturing Engineer
The interview process started with a phone screen with HR, followed by a phone screen with the hiring manager. The final stage was an on-site interview in Hagerstown, MD. While the initial parts went well and the on-site was enjoyable, SNC's decision-making process was incredibly slow, even slower than expected. I was informed that the hiring manager hadn't made a decision by the promised date and intended to interview more candidates. Fortunately, I had already received an offer from a larger, better aerospace company. I decided to mirror SNC's delay and ghosted them, ignoring their advice to 'wait it out.' After a few weeks, I got a generic email stating the position was on hold or eliminated. This experience with SNC was a complete waste of my time, as it's happened twice before. This was the third and final time, so I will not only avoid applying to SNC in the future but will also actively discourage others from applying due to their tendency to waste candidates' time.
- Could you describe your relevant experience and how it relates to our company?
Manufacturing Engineer
Started with a recruiter call, then a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, there was an in-person interview where I met with the hiring manager again along with some other engineers. It was going okay until the in-person part, where they really focused on textbook concepts instead of my actual work experience. A lot of the discussion was about things that weren't even relevant because that specific facility doesn't run like a typical production line.
- Describe your process for developing a production process using new engineering drawings.
Manufacturing Engineer
I first chatted with the recruiter who set up a phone interview. After that, I had an on-site one-on-one with 6 people: PM, Chief Engineer, Test Engineering manager, HR, IPT lead, and Director. But two of them weren't there, so I ended up having another phone interview a few days later.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
- What about your background can you share?
- Do you have any behavioral questions for me?
