Equity Research Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward and to the point. I think I might have over-prepared for it. I spoke with a seasoned analyst there who explained their research methods and what they expect from someone in this role.
- Can you tell me about your background and what value you believe you can add to our firm?
Equity Analyst
It was a simple interview process. First, a phone call with the deputy director, then some casual chats with current analysts for about half an hour. The final interview was with the founder/ceo, Peter Sidoti. They offered $100k base salary plus a bonus of $10k-$40k. There's a $25k raise for every 6 stocks you cover. No tech stipend, but they do provide a work laptop. Paid mat leave is 3 days.
- Can you share your career goals and objectives?
- What about this role and our company caught your eye?
Sales
I reached out to the HR head via the company website, and she called me back a couple of days later. I then went to meet her and Peter. Her interview was very direct, and she seemed quite busy, juggling a few things. She was pleasant, though, and mentioned she's been with the firm for a while and is happy here. She briefed me on meeting Peter and what he's looking for.
- He mostly spoke and discussed the future direction of the business and the markets, and where he thinks they are headed.
- I'm not entirely sure I concur with all his points, but he gave me an opportunity, and ultimately, he might be proven right.
Equity Research Analyst
I sent the hiring manager an equity research report I did in school and they emailed and called me right away to set up an interview. When I got there, she wasn't sure if the CEO would hire me since I'm straight out of school. She asked if I'd be okay with a sales job. When I met the CEO, he had to leave for a meeting about 10 minutes after I got to his office and said he wouldn't consider me for the equity research analyst position. It was a really uncomfortable interview that didn't last much longer than 30 minutes.
- Even though we can't consider you for this position, how do you feel about sales?
