First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shriners Hospitals For Children.
Testing Coordinator
Applied online. HR contacted me 4 months later. First was an HR Screening interview, mostly to check if my work history met the basic requirements. Then I had a Panel interview with 2 upper management individuals. They were nice, polite, and on time. The next week, I had another panel interview with the hiring manager and one other manager. Haven't heard back since.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe what an integration testing plan would entail for you.
- What do you perceive as the key responsibilities for this role?
Medical Records Technician
I submitted my resume and cover letter and had a current employee recommend me. After about a month or two, HR contacted me for a phone interview. I spoke with the department manager on the phone, and she invited me for an in-person interview. During the in-person, I did background check paperwork. The department seemed really quiet with focused and dedicated employees and volunteers, and I felt at home talking with another tech and some other employees. I sent a thank-you note and got the job offer a week or two later. They also asked me to do a drug test almost right after the offer. HR was very organized. It was a great experience.
- Was the Notary Public test difficult for you to pass?
Communications Specialist
Applied in March 2015 and got a call from an agency recruiter within a week. We had a phone chat. I asked when Shriners wanted to fill the role, and they said 'ideally ASAP'. They were hoping to do in-person interviews that week and pick 2-3 candidates to meet the hospital administrator. The recruiter said she'd keep me updated but never did. I emailed a few days later about decisions, but got no reply. Three weeks later, the recruiter reposted the job on LinkedIn. It seems neither I nor others from the first round met Shriners' criteria, even though they needed to fill it 'ASAP'. Three months after applying, still no word from the agency or Shriners about the position. Can't check Shriner's candidate system for status.
- Can you describe your experience working with reporters?
Care Management Manager
I had an initial interview with a recruiting agency, then a phone interview with the Director of Patient Care Services. After that, I had an in-person interview with the same Director. Next, I interviewed with the Director of HR, and finally with the HQ Director of Care Management before receiving a job offer.
- Could you describe your leadership style?
- What prompts your departure from your present role?
- How do you motivate individuals to support change initiatives?
