I talked to the Development Manager first, who was really nice and easy to chat with. Then, a few days later, I had a technical interview with some future coworkers. They seemed unprepared and were just making it up as they went along, not even typing out the questions. We just talked, and I ended up stopping the interview.

I interviewed at showingtime in Chicago downtown. I had 3 interviews. The first was with HR, the second was technical, and the third was with a manager who explained all about the company. All the interviewers were nice and made me feel comfortable. It seems like a good place to work.

The interview process started with a phone interview where I was asked behavioral and basic technical questions to check for cultural fit. This was followed by an in-person interview which I had to travel for without reimbursement. The first in-person round involved two engineers who conducted a technical interview with whiteboard coding to assess my knowledge of data structures and algorithms. The subsequent round was with the Director and VP of technology. The Director focused on database concepts, while the VP covered class implementation and object-oriented programming. Despite liking all the interviewers and feeling comfortable, the experience turned very negative due to the HR's communication afterward. I was initially told I'd receive a response by the end of the week following a Monday interview. After sending a thank-you note, the HR assured me of a response regardless of the outcome. However, by Friday and the following Monday, Wednesday, and the subsequent Friday, there was no response to my calls and emails, which felt disrespectful and unprofessional. While I understood they might be interviewing others, the lack of any communication was frustrating. I felt entitled to know my application status and learned a lesson about companies that disregard your time and money, especially considering the significant personal expenses incurred for the interview. I advise others to only interview if they are local, as the company seems to undervalue candidates' time and resources. The interview itself was quite long, about 3-4 hours, and exhausting. Eventually, I received a non-response via email two weeks later stating they wouldn't be moving forward, which I felt could have been handled more personally, either via a direct email or a phone call.
