First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Showcase Cinemas.
Area Manager
It was a three stage assessment. First, an initial interview to verify details. Then, an assessment and presentation. Everything was professional and standard for the industry. Response time was a bit slow, but understandable given it was the holiday season.
- How would you approach task prioritization when facing time constraints?
General Assistant
I applied online and then got a call about 2 weeks later asking me to come in for a 1-1 interview. The interview was pretty chill, just a casual chat about my personality and what I could bring to the job. They said there would be a second interview if I was successful. The second interview was also pretty easy, it was a group interview with about 7 people. We just had to chat with the person next to us and then tell the group what we found out. After that, we were split into 2 groups and told to write down what makes good and bad customer service and then share our thoughts with the group!
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What was the last movie you saw?
- What is your favorite movie?
General Assistant
I had my first interview with one of the managers, he was a really chill guy. He asked me about 5 or 6 questions and then told me about what goes on at the company and the departments. He let me know there'd be a second interview. That happened literally right after the first one, I spoke to another manager. They went into a bit more detail with the questions, dug deeper really and told me they'd get in touch in a few days. The interview was really good overall and probably only lasted about 30 minutes!
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself, including any general info, interests, or hobbies?
- What makes you want to work at Showcase?
- What's your favorite film, or what's the latest film you've seen?
General Assistant
I was asked to come in 15 minutes early to complete an application form, which was redundant as I had already submitted one online or via CV. Six of us showed up, so I assumed it would be a group task, but we were instead seated at a table to fill out another form. This form was 3-4 pages long and contained actual interview questions. This was the entirety of the interview, with no individual interviews conducted. The interviewer attempted to chat while we were filling out the forms but was quite unprofessional, using swear words and asking about our origins, stating she wouldn't hire people from a specific city due to supposed inbreeding. I'm glad I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a time you received good or bad customer service.
