I found this job on an online board. I'm a recent grad with a writing degree and some informal business background. I thought I was a long shot but submitted my cover letter, resume, and writing samples via email. After a bit of a wait, they emailed asking for a copyediting skills test and another writing sample (around 750 words). Once I sent those, I had a phone interview with the CEO. It was short, maybe 20 minutes. He asked some general questions about me and my writing, then told me about himself and the company. Soon after, I had another skills test – a real-time writing exercise. I had to do an assignment and submit it right away. I got the job offer soon after that. I started onboarding a week later.

I had two phone interviews, and I also had to pitch article ideas and complete an edit test where I wrote an article. The multiple interviews got a little repetitive (as they often do). Overall, the process was pretty quick, though the person managing the interviews seemed a little unprepared and like she hadn't fully reviewed my resume ahead of time.
