The whole interview was remote. First, a typing test, then a language test because it was bilingual. After that, I had to act like a Shopify rep and answer a customer email about domains. Then, I had a Zoom interview with someone from Canada. She gave me another task: answer a customer question about payments in the second language, using Shopify's website. Finally, I had a live chat interview with someone from the U.S. who pretended to be a customer. I had to respond quickly and accurately, which was the hardest part.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process started with a recruiter call to discuss my work experience and the role itself, which seemed pretty standard. Next, there was a technical interview that required me to know the platform basics and how to use online help resources. I also had to guide a hypothetical customer through a problem. During this technical part, I went a bit further and offered advice based on some casual chat I had with the 'customer,' touching on something I think set me apart. It turns out that offering proactive advice for issues the customer might not have even realized they had is a key part of the job. For instance, the customer needed help with email alerts for a new hire and mentioned being swamped. I suggested disabling alerts to their own email if the new employee was taking over customer support entirely.

I had to create a trial site and submit it to show I could do the job. After I submitted it, they somehow lost my application and I had to start all over. Then I had to open a support ticket to get them to schedule the interview.
