First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shive-Hattery.
Electrical Engineer
I went to dinner twice for interviews, it was pretty chill. My main interviewer, who would be my supervisor, kept it conversational. The first interview was just me and him, but the second one was with about 6 people with different jobs and bosses, also at dinner. One guy even came all the way from Des Moines (2 hours away) to meet us for dinner and to ask me some technical questions.
- Can you elaborate on your experience with medium voltage systems?
- How does your past experience align with our plans to expand our medium voltage portfolio?
Intern
The interview was pretty informal. I was asked a few standard questions from the lead for EE/ME Department, which took 15 minutes. Then I was given a tour around the building, which was a nice open layout with two separate floors. Then I was driven to a restaurant and had lunch with some employees. Overall the experience was satisfying and I had a great time.
- Do you know anything about ASHRAE guidelines?
- Which classes have you taken at SDSU?
- What's your favorite class and why?
Structural Engineer Intern
I had lunch with them at a restaurant nearby. It was really casual and chill. It lasted about an hour. They asked me standard stuff like why I wanted to work for Shive Hattery, why I chose structural engineering, and if I was okay with staying in the area.
- Tell me why you are interested in Shive Hattery.
- What makes you want to pursue structural engineering?
- Is staying in this specific location something you're open to?
HR Generalist
Easy process, they followed up quickly. It started with a recruiter phone screen. If I advanced, I had an onsite interview with future teammates. After that, it took a while to hear back before I received my verbal and written job offers.
- What is your experience with HRIS systems?
