Technical Program Manager
I talked with 5 managers for about 45 minutes each. They were the engineering manager, a senior product manager, the director of product, the PMO director, and the hiring program manager who finished things up. The questions were pretty standard, and everyone was nice. When I asked about the Glassdoor reviews, they said the negative ones were from the customer service side. Maybe that's true, but it sounds like there might be an "us vs. them" thing going on internally. It's unprofessional and shows a lack of respect for my time to not give any communication, feedback, or closure after the interview.
- Can you describe how you would train teams on standups?
Software Support Engineer
The interview process was surprisingly fluid and quick. After applying online, the recruiter got back to me in a couple days. The process that followed was very quick and succinct. The recruiter scheduled a 30-minute phone call, then sent a coding challenge. I completed and returned the coding challenge pretty quickly. The coding challenge wasn't too difficult; if you have programming experience, you could definitely do it. I went above and beyond the requirements, and the recruiter mentioned I earned a lot of points for my work on the code. After receiving the coding challenge results, an onsite interview was scheduled. Since I wasn't in town, it was accommodated via video. After the technical interview, I had one last interview with HR, and after that, it was pretty much smooth sailing. They extended an offer very quickly.

Product Manager
Recruiter reached out for this role. Started process 7/12, heard back 8/22. Had a recruiter screen and 4 interviews. After my screen and 1st interview, I found out it was a hybrid role (2 days onsite) and we discussed if we should proceed without more info. I said I wouldn't do it daily but would do monthly with back-to-back days. After talking with the recruiter and company, the process moved forward. I didn't know until after the 2nd interview if the hybrid situation was still uncertain, but I figured the company would be flexible, so we kept going. After more talks, it seemed like the weekly hybrid role could become monthly. During my follow-up interviews, I asked about the hybrid setup, and the interviewers didn't think monthly would be a problem (since other candidates weren't nearby) and said it's pretty flexible now. I finished the interview process and the company was figuring out hybrid options. After I finished, I was told Shipwire's Executive team made strict rules for the hybrid nature, requiring Tuesday/Thursday onsite. They offered to let me be onsite for 2-3 hours each day to make up for the drive, meaning a 12-hour commute for 4-6 hours with the team weekly - seemed illogical, a lot of road time for little work time. But the team was still looking into it and contacted my references twice. About a week later, I found out Shipwire is sticking to their original hybrid plan, which was a bummer because I think it's a great opportunity. I like the company and wish them the best, but if the hybrid requirements were clear from the start, it would have saved everyone (recruiter, company, me, my references) a lot of time and effort.
- Can you share an instance where you had to decline a stakeholder's request?
Customer Advocate
I had a phone screening that went well and led to an onsite interview. The onsite wasn't great though, I met with two team members. One seemed really into the work, but the other seemed totally checked out. They didn't ask me anything about my experience or tell me anything about the job, so I figured it was going badly. I got a standard rejection email later than they said I would.
