Behavioral Technical Coding

So there were three rounds in total. First was a quick 30 min chat with the recruiter about the job and if I'm a good fit. Then, a 1-hour behavioral interview with the hiring manager where we talked about my tech background, past work, and if I'd fit the team. The last round was a 2-part technical interview, each lasting an hour. One part was about LLD/OOP, and the other was a Leetcode-style coding challenge.

Confirmed questions5 questions

  • Can you discuss your general fit for this role?
  • Tell me about your technical background and prior experience, and how you'd fit into the team.

The process involved a coding round focusing on object-oriented skills with a card deck problem, including handling Jokers and performing shuffles/deals. There was also a problem-solving round where you had to find the max delta in a single trade, either through brute force or a more elegant single iteration. Lastly, a behavioral round covered typical team player questions, your work approach, and how you tackle technical challenges.

The interview process followed the outline that ShipBob provides on their website. After an initial interview with the ShipBob recruiter, there was an interview with the hiring manager followed by two technical interviews. The first technical interview was a programming assessment and the second was an architecture assessment. Both of these assessments were with members of the engineering team. The final interview was a behavioral interview with a director of engineering. Throughout the process the recruiter kept me updated on the status of the process, was open to any questions that came up, and was my point person. In addition each interview had clear expectations and the participants were engaged each step of the process.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • For the programming assessment, build an application that simulates a deck of cards.
  • For the architecture assessment, implement a portion of UberEats and then review a project from your past in which you were the architect.
