I applied for the Email Marketing Specialist job around the end of June. It took about a month to hear back for an interview, which felt like a good sign. Two days later, I had my first chat with HR, who was really friendly and made the conversation pleasant. A few days after that, I got called for a second interview with my potential direct manager. She was nice too, but the interview was pretty dull. We just went over my resume, and for each job, I was asked the same few questions repeatedly: 'What did you like the most? What did you dislike the most? What gave you the most pleasure?' There were no questions about marketing at all. It felt like she was just reading a script, not having a real conversation. Months went by, and even after following up, I never heard back. No rejection, just ghosting.

The interview process was a bit lengthy for the job. It started with an HR interview, which I thought was just to discuss the role further, but it turned out to be a full interview. About a week later, I had an interview with two people I would work closely with. This interview was structured differently: I had to go back over my last three jobs and talk about what I did, my biggest achievements, what my boss would say about me, and why I quit. The last interview was with two people from another team. They didn't ask about my experience directly but instead asked abstract questions that really caught me off guard. For example, they asked what the most creative thing I'd done in my role was, which seemed a bit odd given the job is all about creativity. They also asked a lot about my failures, asking the same question multiple times. This final interview felt unnecessary and intense, especially since the role only required two years of experience.

Applied online and then had to do a typing speed test, a skills test, and a writing sample test. After that, there was a Google Meet interview on webcam. The second interview was also on webcam with the department manager. This interview was to see if I'd be a good fit for the team, answer questions about me as an applicant, and give me a chance to ask questions about the position. If they decided to offer me the job, they'd call to give a verbal offer. Then an offer letter would be emailed for me to sign, and then onboarding would start!

I found the job posting online and sent in my portfolio. Someone reached out to me for an interview. First, I talked to HR over the phone, and then they invited me to the next step. After that, I had to work on a project they assigned, and I had just a few days to finish it. I ended up working on it all weekend to make sure I got it done on time. It seems like a cool place to work, but the project and the tight deadline were pretty stressful considering I already had a full-time job.
