First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories.
Director
Had a panel phone interview where they asked about my philosophies, how I manage people, and my technical skills. Then, I had an in-person interview with several senior leaders, followed by a panel interview with the person currently in the role and those who would report to me. This interview dug deeper into my abilities and knowledge, but also really focused on whether I'd be a good fit for the team and our way of thinking.
- Can you share some examples of situations that required you to use your management skills?
- Tell me about questions related to the specific role.
Administrative Assistant
It began with a 30-minute phone interview, where they asked typical STAR (behavioral) questions. After that, I had a 2-hour in-person interview. This consisted of three separate panel interviews. The first was with the team I'd be joining, the second with the department manager and director, and the final one with HR. All interviews focused heavily on my past experience, with some behavioral questions mixed in. A lot of what I discussed was repeated across the panel interviews. My impression from the first two panels was that they were mainly assessing my personality and whether I'd be a good fit with them, rather than just my skills. The interviews weren't difficult, and much of the content was repeated.
- Can you share your relevant GLP experience?
Associate Scientist
First, there was a phone interview, and then a face-to-face interview happened. The site interview included a chat with the head of the department, followed by a panel of 4 people (one of them was the hiring manager), then another 2 people, and finally 2 more. They showed me around the lab first. Honestly, I could tell the hiring manager wasn't interested even before I arrived. You could see it from how they rushed the lab tour, didn't make eye contact, and didn't smile.
- Can you explain the Western Blot protocol?
- How would you go about designing a new method?
- What information do you have about our company?
EHS Specialist
I had interviews with multiple people, starting with HR and then moving on to the department staff. They really wanted to see if the candidate was a good fit and had the right chemistry for the department. One of the interviewers from the department was quite impersonal, but it turns out they play a critical role in the hiring decision.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with this company?
