First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shelby County Schools(TN).
Teacher
The interview was pretty standard and not hard at all. They offered me the job right then and there. This county really needs teachers, so they hired me quickly. It was a virtual interview with three people on the panel.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about how you would deal with a tough situation.
Classroom Teacher
I had a screening interview with HR, and then after being hired by the district, I had several rounds of interviews with different schools/principals. I was hired on the spot. The salary and benefits are set by tenure, so they aren't negotiable.
- Could you tell me about the endorsements you currently hold?
Family Engagement Specialist
I was interviewed by a panel of 6 people. They were from different funders and bureaus. I found it strange that there were so many interviewers for a role that wasn't a senior leadership or management position.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
Financial Analyst
The interview process is easy. Takes a while for a principal to reach out but things are busy right now. The interview questions are never the same. The questions might be hard or easy but as longs as you answer honestly you are ok. Looks as if schools prefer experience over degrees.
- All questions are never the same
