You'll have a detailed phone interview with someone from the district hiring team. After that, there might be a face-to-face interview with principals or a group of school administrators and teachers. The school-level interview stuff can change based on your background. They'll ask things that your resume doesn't cover, like how you improve student achievement, get parents and the community involved, and other things that make the school look good or work better.

The process was pretty quick and painless. I found the job online and then just filled out the application. About two weeks later, HR called me to schedule a meeting with the principal for an interview. I got there a bit early, wearing business casual, and brought a portfolio with my degrees, accomplishments, and resume. They only asked me about 2 or 3 simple questions about my past jobs and how I'd handle challenging kids. The interview was super short, like 10 minutes. I got offered the job about 1-2 weeks after that.

It was a regular in-person interview where they asked about my experience and past jobs. They didn't ask any strange questions. The interview room was neat and quiet. I haven't heard back about the job status, and since it's been over a month, I guess I won't get it.

The interview process can vary depending on the specific school. If your resume matches what they're looking for, you'll probably get an interview with the principal or vice principal. They'll want to know how you handle classroom management, keep students engaged, and use differentiated instruction. The principal needs to see if you'll be good in the classroom and able to help with the high-stakes test scores that schools are judged on.
