It was pretty straightforward. There were three people on the panel, and each of them asked two questions. The interview was in person. Some of the questions focused on how my skills fit the role and the importance of SCC's values in relation to the position.

It was a really disorganized interview experience. I got to the address, and the reception didn't even know interviews were happening. Someone eventually found me and took me to a messy side room for my test. About 20 minutes in, they realized they gave me the wrong test and I had to start over. After the test, I went straight into the interview with a panel member, where I had to present my assignment. During the presentation, one panel member kept interrupting, and I felt rushed when explaining my work. Then we jumped into the interview, which was mostly about company values and some hypothetical questions, not much about my actual experience, which was strange for this level. They asked if I had questions, and when I asked one panel member about their sector experience (found them on LinkedIn), the same lady who interrupted earlier made a snarky comment about not being on LinkedIn. I also asked about APC support, and they gave a vague answer about sorting it out myself. They said they'd let us know the outcome after all interviews. A week later, no word, so I followed up. No response. Two weeks later, I followed up again and was told the panel hadn't told HR yet. Three weeks later, I was told I was unsuccessful. Honestly, it feels like a lucky escape; Sheffield council seemed super disorganized, and while others were nice, that one lady was incredibly rude.

First, they look at your application and questionnaire to see if you're a good fit. Then, there's a quick chat with HR about your background and why you want this job. After that, you'll have a more detailed interview with the hiring manager about your skills and what you've done. You might also get a case study or a task related to procurement, maybe even a presentation. Then you'll meet with some important people from different teams to see how you'd work with them. Finally, you'll talk with top management about your career plans and how you'd fit into the company. They'll also check your references. If everything goes well, you'll get a job offer with all the details, and you can talk about the terms.

It was a really nice interview experience, the people were very friendly and personable. The interview wasn't too long, and there wasn't a practical element. I just had to answer questions. I didn't get the job, but I would definitely apply again with Sheffield City Council as I really liked the people and felt very respected throughout the whole process. Communication was great.
