First, you gotta fill out the application on the Shedd website. Then, rank your top internship choices using numbers. Next, do your resume. After that, write a personal cover letter. Make sure you proofread it super carefully for spelling and grammar, especially if it's for a marketing, communications, or PR role. Seriously, errors will get you bounced immediately. And fix "Shedd" if Word tries to change it to "Shed"! Then, send in your references. Finally, scan and email everything as ONE PDF file. This makes it easy for people to look at. After that, just wait. There's gonna be a wait 'cause so many people apply and there are several steps. A few different people will review your application before you're accepted or not. If you haven't heard back but the deadline hasn't passed, don't stress. One follow-up email is fine, but make sure you get the recipient's name right. People kept messing up my name and gender, which was funny sometimes but also annoying. If you don't know who to address it to, don't guess. Check their email signature to find out their name. Making a mistake once is okay, but a second time means you're not paying attention. You won't get an email if you're rejected, sorry, over 700 applicants! If you get an interview, be early or on time. Head straight to the service entrance at the back of the museum. The 141 bus stops nearby, so you won't have to walk far. Don't be scared to ask questions and explain your situation. Everyone's super nice and gets how you might feel on your first day. Your interviewer is awesome, kind, understanding, and worldly. It doesn't matter who you get, everyone at Shedd is like that. Ask when you'll hear back – it varies. Ask any questions you have. Don't worry, it's a chill interview. Just be honest and kind, and you'll be fine. Dress in business casual. Then, wait again. One more follow-up email is enough. If you get the internship, congrats!

Applied, then after waiting around three weeks, I had a phone interview, and then another one at Shedd. They were both pretty enjoyable, the people interviewing me were nice and super easy to talk to. Mostly they asked about what I wanted from the internship and about my previous experience. Make sure you know exactly why you want to work there and what you can bring to their program. Really nice people and I enjoyed the chats I had.

The teen work study internview process was alright. We were assigned in groups and given 2 mins for each candidate. These people are very understanding and chill. There is nothing to worry about when it comes to this interview. Be yourself and explain why you want to be in the program. You’ll have a ball if you do get offer the teen work study job.
