Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shapoorji Pallonji.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
The interview process, typical for entry-level roles, included both technical and HR assessments. Prior to this, candidates participated in a non-eliminating group discussion (GD) round to evaluate communication skills, with marks assigned for this. The technical round focused on core civil engineering subjects like Construction Materials, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying, RCC, and Steel. Interviewers might ask you to choose a preferred subject and then ask questions related to it, so ensure your fundamental knowledge in that area is strong. They are also interested in your summer training experience; make sure to review your internship diary thoroughly. Practical experience from outdoor or construction site training is viewed positively, as it demonstrates familiarity with the work environment relevant to a construction firm. The HR round typically involves general questions about your personal life, such as family background and hobbies. It's crucial to be well-prepared to discuss everything mentioned in your CV. Overall, confidence and being yourself are key. Don't stress too much; demonstrating a solid understanding of core concepts and being a well-rounded individual increases your chances of being hired.

The process starts with a Technical Aptitude test along with an English Fluency test. Both are written tests with 30-40 questions each, and you get about 20 minutes for each. A lot of students get cut here because the cut-off is high. If you pass, you go to a Group Discussion where they just check your English speaking skills. The next step is the personal interview, where you'll get both technical and HR questions.
