First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shannon & Wilson.
Geologist
I met with about five senior staff one at a time in their office. I was fresh out of school and extremely nervous but most of them went out of their way to make me feel more comfortable. I was asked about long gaps in my employment.
- What do you bring to Shannon & Wilson?
Marketing Assistant
The process has three rounds. The first is a 30-minute chat with an HR specialist. The second is with someone from the department. The third is an in-person interview. Overall, the conversations were pretty straightforward and easy.
- Are you currently applying for other jobs?
- Have you been extended an offer from another company?
- Have you reached the final interview stage with any other companies?
Geotechnical Engineer
The interview process was pretty informal. It seemed like the interviewers hadn't read my resume beforehand and weren't interested in discussing experiences outside the direct scope of the job description. This might have been because the person who organized the call accidentally forgot to join. It wasn't a great experience because they didn't seem to put much effort into reviewing my application.
- Did you have field experience with the specific geotechnical testing they were implementing?
- What field experience do you have with certain geotechnical testing they were implementing?
Geotechnical Engineer
I applied online and went through an interview with the Portland office. During the interview, an engineer made a comment about Ph.D. engineers that made me feel like higher education wasn't valued. They said they'd email me updates, but I never got one. I followed up, and they said they needed more time and weren't sure about the decision timeline, which was different from what they said in the interview.
- What are the courses in geotechnical engineering?
