First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shamin Hotels.
Human Resources Business Partner
The interview was a cold-call at 4:30 PM on Friday. It seemed like there could be improvements to how the company handles onboarding candidates. During the call, the questions were basic HR questions, and they didn't really relate to the job or what the company needed. The talent manager seemed busy, and there were pauses when discussing salary and start dates. When I mentioned the interview was unexpected, they said, 'yeah...that's just how I do things,' which made me think the onboarding process might be lacking company-wide. I withdrew my application after the interview, and the talent manager's response was a basic decline template, which confirmed my decision.
- In what ways does HR data support business goals?
Human Resources Director
Got a quick response to my application. After talking with the Director, they said they'd get back to me in a week. Then nothing. It's a big ask to take time off work for interviews, and not hearing back or getting a rejection is really unprofessional and makes it seem like my time wasn't valued.
- Would you be willing to work some nights and weekends occasionally?
Front Desk Manager
I responded to a Craigslist advertisement for this position and had an initial conversation with the Operations Manager. Following that discussion, I came back for another meeting with the General Manager and also completed my drug test. The interview covered my prior experience, my management approach, and a general overview of the company. The GM seemed a bit confused. After a week of waiting for the drug test results, I was hired soon after.

Accounting Specialist
So the interview process was pretty standard. I spoke with the CFO and one of his colleagues. They asked questions that weren't from a script and seemed really engaged and professional. Things went great during the interview... but then they ghosted me. I sent a thank you note, and then another follow-up email about six days later, and heard absolutely nothing back. Really unprofessional of him.

- How interested are you in this position, given that it's a bit different from what you've done lately?
