I got contacted by a recruiter for a Software Developer role and thought Sevatec might be a good place for me. The whole interview process felt kinda unprofessional, and I got the vibe that the employees there weren't too happy. It started with a phone screen with the recruiter. It was okay, but when I asked about what makes Sevatec a good place to work, the recruiter just gave a super generic answer about 'nice coworkers,' which made the company sound really unappealing. After that, I had an onsite interview set up, but then things went south. The interview got cancelled last minute because two of the interviewers were supposedly 'sick.' A few days later, I got an email saying the job I applied for was no longer available, but they mentioned another role that might be a good fit. I turned it down and decided to stop the whole process.

The interview process began promisingly, with the HR representative conducting a professional phone screening and subsequently arranging a technical interview, keeping me engaged. However, the in-person interview took a starkly different turn. It felt from the outset like they already had a preferred candidate, rendering the interview a mere formality. The interview setting, despite a beautiful room in an office building, featured deep club chairs that made sitting upright difficult. One interviewer seemed as though he was settling in to watch a movie, while the other appeared disengaged from the beginning, eager to conclude. I attempted various seating positions, clearly appearing uncomfortable, but this did not seem to affect them as they intended to wrap up quickly. Although I possessed significant experience, I had minimal opportunity to elaborate due to vague questions, indicating the interviewers were unprepared. The initial HR contact, though, remained consistently professional.

Had a phone interview that covered questions about my personal life, job knowledge, future goals, and a general conversation. My advice is to be yourself, don't lie, don't try too hard, prepare notes about the company, and learn everything you can about the position.

The hiring manager made the interview easy. They called me back in a few days and offered me the position. I was able to start within a few days since I was not working at the time. No test or drug test. They just checked my references which made for a faster process.
