So this was like a two-part interview thing. First I talked to the program manager and the operations manager, and they were super cool and made me feel really welcome and excited about the job. The first interview was really laid back, just a chat to get to know each other. We really hit it off talking about software and past experiences. I'd be working with these people at a really fast-paced startup, so it was the kind of interview where you could just be yourself. The emails I got from the contact person were always super nice and to the point, but getting them late at night made me wonder what I was getting myself into. Then came interview number two. It felt like a totally different company. The COO was like thirty minutes late, which I thought was a bad sign. They talked about it being a startup, but there was this negative vibe. My advice for this one is to be a total yes person and basically have no life outside of it.

The whole process was really invasive, rude, and unprofessional. They asked me personal questions and then just left me alone for a long time while the interviewer was off doing god knows what. Honestly, it felt like a complete waste of time and I got the impression the company wasn't actually looking to hire anyone.

It was a light conversation, more focused on assessing personality fit than specific skills. It felt like they had a history of hiring people through personal connections. The people interviewing seemed nice. I've heard the company might have gone out of business since then.
