First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ServiceMax.
Senior Staff Applications Engineer
First, a recruiter reached out to get a sense of my background. Then, there was a technical round to evaluate my technical skills. After that, a director conducted another round focusing on technical and managerial aspects. Finally, HR discussed salary, my interests, family background, and my reasons for wanting to join Smax.

Software Engineer
The recruiter first contacted me and we talked about the job and how much I expected to be paid. After that, I went through multiple rounds of interviews. I found the average difficulty of these rounds to be high. Eventually, I was told I passed everything and they were ready to give me an offer. The recruiter gathered my details and said I would get the official offer letter the next day. However, after a week or two of chasing her, she informed me that the CTO had not approved the salary I was looking for. It's frustrating because I'm not sure why they put me through all the interview stages if they weren't prepared to meet my salary expectations. It feels like a complete waste of my time. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this company as it seems they lack a clear long-term strategy.
- Can you explain Salesforce Lightning, LWC, and trigger logic?
Solution Architect
The interview process was quite lengthy with many stages, mostly due to scheduling difficulties between me and the hiring manager. It started with a call from the PS Director, followed by interviews with three managers. Then, there were two more phone interviews, a group presentation, an in-person interview, and a final phone call, making it seven stages in total. The hiring manager and many interviewers were great, and the presentation was well-prepared. I didn't get the job because of travel expectations, which I found surprising given my initial clarification about travel availability. I didn't receive actionable feedback despite asking. The final interview revealed a significant travel requirement (weekly trips to France), which I stated was not feasible with my family. I rated the experience negatively due to the excessive length and repetition of questions, which made it feel unproductive and suggested indecisiveness from the team. The travel issue, which was the stated reason for not hiring me, could have been addressed much earlier in the process.
- Can you describe the responsibilities of a Solution Architect in relation to projects, clients, and internal teams?
Solutions Consultant
I was first approached by a headhunter about a role in Europe. Then, I had a call with the Director of consultants in the UK, which went fine. Things got messy after that. The interviewer mixed me up with someone else twice. He scheduled a face-to-face interview and then moved it up by 24 hours without asking, forcing me to rebook travel. During the interview, he started with a topic he'd previously said wasn't crucial. Another question covered things already discussed and on my CV. To top it off, before I left, he said a behavioral skill I thought was a strength wasn't convincing him. It's wild how unprofessional some people in charge can be.
