I talked to HR first, then one of the IT supervisors. After that, I met with the manager and some team members. The questions were pretty open ended and weren't super specific.

They offered me a different role than the one I applied for. The manager seemed confused and mixed up applicants for various positions, making the process unorganized and chaotic. I received multiple calls about different offers for roles I hadn't applied for.

After submitting my resume, I got an email confirmation and then a quick call with HR. The in-person meeting included a company and benefits overview, and I met the IS team. The HR person was nice. The main issue is they called it "entry-level" with a $40k starting salary, making it sound like a role you could grow in. But when I met the IS team, they were looking for someone with senior IT skills, wanting deep knowledge of MS environments (like MCSE) and networking (like CCNA). It seems like either they don't know what they need or they really undervalue people, expecting that level of expertise for that pay. Either way, it's a warning sign.

I applied for a part time Financial Service Representative job. About a week later, I had a 45-minute phone interview. It went well, and the interviewer liked my enthusiasm and questions. Two days later, I got a face-to-face interview with the branch manager. The questions were similar to the phone interview. I kept asking the phone interviewer about the status while waiting for an answer. A few months after being rejected, I suspected gender discrimination because the staff was mostly female, and it seemed like a 'girl's club'. Even though I have a new job, I'm still disappointed I didn't get this job after they told me how great the company was and that there was room for opportunity.

  • Can you share an instance where you took the lead on a group project, perhaps from an academic setting?
