Sales Engineer
So the interview process had a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager chat, and then some panel interviews. These panels were for a product demo, culture fit, technical and troubleshooting skills, and a chat with an account executive. Everyone was really nice and involved, especially the director who answered all my questions. But, getting updates from the recruiter about what was next after the panels was super slow, took more than a week. Also, even though the recruiter was nice, they didn't update me fast on one occasion, taking a few days to respond when I asked. Seems like engineering and recruiting aren't on the same page about how to run the interviews. The director and hiring manager told me some things would happen next, but they didn't, and recruiting didn't communicate the changes. Also, a second hiring manager seemed a bit unprepared and the recruiter didn't schedule enough time for that interview, so it was rushed. Good thing the recruiter did give me feedback after the panels, saying I did well but they picked someone else.
- Tell me about yourself and your experience.
- Can you walk me through how you would troubleshoot this specific code error?
- Could you please present our product to me?
Sales Engineer
The process had around 7-8 meetings, including HR/Recruiter, Sales Engineer Manager, a Technical Challenge, a Panel Interview, and a Panel Demo. The interviews were spaced out well, and the Sentry team was always communicative and friendly.
- Complete a coding challenge using a programming language you're unfamiliar with.
- Respond to client email inquiries about the product.
Sales Engineer
I applied online and then had a first chat with the Hiring Manager. I really liked talking to the Hiring Manager, so we moved on to a take-home assignment. The assignment had a coding challenge and some other questions about how I'd handle customer queries. After the technical take-home part, I had another technical screen (using screen share) with two engineers where we went over a web application. I got good feedback and we worked out a solution together. But then, Sentry sent a follow-up saying they were moving ahead with other people. It was a bummer not to get any feedback, especially after putting in time for several interviews and the take-home work. The whole process took about 3-4 weeks.
- Were there any Hackerrank or Leetcode questions?
- How would you handle customer questions?
