The interview process was a bit strange. It started with an initial Teams call where they asked some basic questions. I had to follow up with them to get any kind of response after that call. Then, there was an in-person interview that included a simple intray exercise. After that, I was ghosted, even after sending emails to ask for updates.

I had an initial HR screening call, followed by another interview with HR and my potential N+1. A lot of the discussion focused on applying the 8D method. This is pretty basic for an experienced quality professional, but my answers apparently weren't quite what they were looking for, since 8D is just a method and the tools used really depend on the specific issue.

A recruiter reached out to me first, then I chatted with the head of the department. After that, I went to the site for an interview with the head supervisor. I had to fill out a paper application, then we went to a conference room. They asked some pretty basic questions. A lot of the interview was them explaining how much work is involved, how I'd have to do a lot of discipline, and that people likely wouldn't like me. It was weird, like they were trying to talk me out of the job. I asked about turnover and didn't get a straight answer. Also, the 'occasional overtime' is actually 54-58 hour weeks all the time. I ended up declining the offer.

The interview centered on my hands-on engineering experience, particularly from my side projects, and my personal enthusiasm for engineering. It heavily emphasized my motivation for pursuing engineering, which I preferred over a purely technical interview. The company seemed to be looking for interns who genuinely love what they do, not just those good with calculations.
