A qualitative selection interview about professional experience and competencies. However, for the Senior Manager position, more practical work was expected than I had in a specialist role at another company. It's a scale effect, which is why we didn't fit together.

So I applied and heard back super fast, they said I was a really good fit and excited to chat. First up was a recruiter phone screen, and wow, they really dug deep with some tough questions for just a phone call. Then I had a chill chat with a senior person, who made it sound like I was up for one of two jobs. I left feeling pretty good and confident. I sent a detailed thank-you note with some ideas they asked for, but then it went quiet for a few days. I followed up with the recruiter, and they said they'd let me know the next week. Throughout that week, I kept seeing the same job ad on LinkedIn, being told I was a 'Top Applicant,' and even got a message from Semrush recruiting for the same role I was interviewing for. A bit odd, but still felt like a good sign. Then, out of the blue, a generic email from the recruiter saying they were moving forward with candidates who 'specifically meet their requirements.' No real explanation. I asked for details, but got totally ghosted. So I guess I'll never know why I was such a 'great fit' but not actually the right fit. Just another typical in-house process where the company isn't sure what they need.

I got contacted on LinkedIn for the Office Manager position at SemRush. I interviewed on Thursday. The interviewer said she'd give feedback to the hiring team the next Monday and call me for another interview. But on Friday, I got an email rejecting me. It was weird because she'd said the person she needed to give feedback to was on holiday until Monday. I get that I might not have been the best fit, but what's not okay is that after I asked for feedback on what I could improve, she never replied. I messaged her on LinkedIn again two weeks later, and still no response.
