First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Semler Scientific.
Technical Account Manager
It was a good process. The company is small but has a lot of smart people. The recruiter was top-notch and very prompt with scheduling. I got the offer within ten days of the interview.
- What is your earliest availability to start working?
Engineer
It was pretty frustrating, honestly. I was ghosted, of course. The process started with a phone screen, then I interviewed with the hiring manager, and finally, a panel interview. The people on the panel asked such varied topics, it made me question what the job was even about. Like, they asked if I had an area to work from home, which felt a bit odd since I've been WFH for years. And then there was a role play question about a situation I had no way of knowing about since I don't work there.
- Is there a dedicated space where you can work from home?
- What are your hobbies or how do you spend your free time?
- Describe a hypothetical situation you wouldn't know about because you haven't worked here.
Technical Account Manager
I applied online and heard from a recruiter for an initial 30-minute phone screening. The call was very short, under 7 minutes, and they barely asked me anything beyond my current role and why I'm seeking a change. They also didn't ask if I had questions, which is odd. I prepared for this call, but the rushed nature and lack of professionalism left a bad impression. Even though the recruiter cut the call short, she followed up asking about my availability for a second call with another TAM. My advice is to use the scheduled time wisely, get to know candidates, and let them learn about you too. I'll never know if this was the right role because of this poor first impression.
- What prompts your desire for a career transition?
Salesforce Administrator
It started with an HR call where they were attentive and quick with fairly standard questions. Then I spoke with the hiring manager, and we had an amazing conversation and really hit it off. After that, I had a call with someone else on the team to go over some more technical questions, and that call went well. I followed up with both the hiring manager and HR afterwards, but the company completely went silent and ghosted me. It's tough when you're trying to juggle interviews with your current career and put a lot of time and effort into a company, only for them to not even have the courtesy to send a denial email. I was really excited about this potential offer and the hiring manager seemed great, but I was very disappointed with how the process ended.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience, and what motivated you to apply for this role at Semler Scientific?
- Could you answer some basic technical questions?
