Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Selman & Associates.
Wellsite Geologist
This company's interview process was incredibly rude. I received an unexpected call for an interview and when I started discussing my resume, the interviewer became critical of my preparation and job search efforts. Despite their demeaning tone, they wanted to continue, but I decided to end the interview after 17 minutes. Based on other company reviews, I feel I avoided a negative experience.
- Were you compensated in your last role?
- Can you tell me about your activities before attending college?
- Did you attend the institution listed on your resume?
Mud Logger
It was a simple interview process. They asked me some questions, we talked for a bit, and then they gave me the details on benefits, pay, and hours. The owner is pretty straightforward, but you really need to consider what you're looking for.
- Have you taken any relevant courses?
- Can you work for extended periods without time off?
Mud Logger
Had a phone chat about a training program they had starting the next week. They asked when I could come in for a one-on-one meeting at the office. The interview was pretty chill, asking about my work ethic, family, and girlfriend to get a sense of how much time off I might need.
- What did you learn from your degree?
Wellsite Geologist
Got a call back the very next day for a quick 10-15 minute phone chat with the owner. He went over what the job entails and the training involved, and I got to ask questions.
- Are you willing to relocate?
- What location will you be traveling from?
- What is your experience in this field?
