I went through 2 interview panels. I also observed a panel session during my visit. They evaluate participants on their preparation, the quality of their responses, and their overall conduct, such as maintaining eye contact.

Technical Behavioral

The interview process itself was pretty good, and the questions were what you'd expect for a research role (like talking about recent projects and technical skills). However, my overall experience was bad because I never heard back after the interview, not even a rejection, which was about six months ago. This is unlike my experience applying to SEIU 775 previously, where at least I was told I wasn't moving forward. In this case, I was never contacted again post-interview. I did accept another offer shortly after, so I didn't follow up myself, but it seems really unprofessional to not follow up with an applicant.

  • Can you tell me about your technical skills?

Myself and one other applicant attended. The interview included introductions, an overview of current campaigns, a discussion about the daily life of a growth organizer, presentations, role-plays, and a Q&A session. A key takeaway is to take the "long and irregular hours" and "travel required" seriously. They emphasized that a successful applicant must be dedicated to the job, willing to work extended hours at any time, and comfortable traveling away from home for significant periods. The phrase "say goodbye to a personal life" was explicitly used, indicating this role is not suitable for individuals with families or existing social commitments.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What qualities make a successful organizer in your opinion, and how does your background align with this role's requirements?
  • Considering your experience, how are you equipped for this specific position?
  • Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to being an organizer?

So the first part was a phone screen where they asked me stuff about the subject matter and my project management experience. Then, I got a problem and had to create a program design for it, which I then had to present at the onsite. After my presentation, there was a group interview.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Were there questions about your subject matter knowledge and project management experience during the phone screen?
  • Did you have to design a program to solve a problem and present it at the onsite interview?
  • Was there a group interview after the presentation?
