First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Seiko Epson.
Human Resources
The interview process was unprofessional. They made me feel like my degree wasn't enough for the position they wanted. They were accommodating but degraded my degree as if it was easy. I heard they require you to take an exam and then inform you that you're not qualified for the position.
- What made you choose Epson?
Web Developer
The interview process started with a recruiter reaching out. Then I had a phone interview, which went well. After that, I interviewed with the manager and lead programmer. I felt good about it and they seemed interested. This was the day before Thanksgiving. They took the weekend to think about it, and then my recruiter heard from them that they interviewed another candidate and were waiting to see how that person's in-person interview went. That's when things got weird. My recruiter kept saying they liked me and were just deciding, but I realized they were still interviewing others. On January 13th, over 6 weeks after my interview, I followed up and they told my recruiter they thought I needed more experience. They said they were still interested and wanted me to do an app for them to assess my skills, and they were also still interviewing other people. So, I decided to withdraw from their process. They were really unprofessional and couldn't make up their minds. If you interview with them, don't get your hopes up!
- Can you explain what an anonymous function is?
Computer Vision Engineer
The interview had two interviewers who asked a few questions in about half an hour. They asked one question about PCA and eigenvalues, and another about linear regression functions in R. There were also some questions about programming in C/C++.
- Could you explain Principal Component Analysis (PCA)?
- What are eigenvalues?
- Can you describe linear regression functions in R?
Robotics Set-up Engineer
The HR was nice, and the interview was a great experience overall. The HR asked quite a few questions, including behaviour and technical skills. In terms of the technical skills questions, they were looking more for how you think and reason your logic as opposed to actually getting the correct answer.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a team member and how you resolved it.
- Have you ever experienced a team conflict, and if so, how did you address it?
