The interview process was quite unorganized and time-consuming. I was first contacted by a TL who administered two lengthy live tests, one written and one verbal over video call. He felt my test was good but our salary expectations didn't align, so he referred me to another team for a senior position. The new TL also gave lengthy editing-related tests. However, during the video call, three TLs/managers bombarded me with finance-related questions, which seemed more relevant to a research role. The whole process felt like a waste of time because: 1. TLs reached out directly with tests without clear context, and it was illogical to discuss salary after extensive testing rather than upfront. 2. HR got involved very late, and since all communication with TLs was via email, there was no real clarity on expectations before the interview call. 3. The video call interview didn't match the type of tests administered, as they seemed focused on acquiring multiple skills for one role rather than the role's specific expertise. After reading former employees' feedback, I believe I avoided a bad situation.

The whole thing took about 2 months, involving around 8 chats with 4 different people, plus a take-home assignment. Most of the team seemed nice and gave a good vibe, but the recruiter situation and decision-making process was a bit much. They started ghosting me for a while, saying there was a hiring freeze, but then they asked for references from my old managers. This is tricky since I've been at my current company for 5 years and can't exactly ask my current manager for a reference before getting an offer. I did get a reference from a former manager I worked with 6-7 years ago, and the recruiter grilled them for 15-20 minutes! Then, they really started pushing, demanding contact info for a former manager from an NDA project, which is just not possible. I'm not sure if they were trying to get info from the NDA project or if they're just disorganized. Just a heads-up, be cautious and don't invest too much time or hope in this company.

It was just 2 tech interviews. They really dug into JS fundamentals, algorithms, and JS patterns, like Monads and other advanced concepts. Then there was a deep dive into React, covering hooks and functional programming patterns. Finally, there were take-home assignments where I had to build a board, manage cell states, and update them according to specific rules.

I applied on angel.co and contacted the company, and someone got back to me in under a week. The whole process from applying to speaking with the recruiter was less than a week. They are pretty efficient and give their employees plenty of chances to interview.
