First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SECURUS Technologies.
Supervisor
The interview process was very friendly and easy to talk to. The questions seemed fair for the position. There are three stages: first, a screening by the recruiter, then an interview with two supervisors, and finally, an interview with site staff members you would be working with.
- How do you stay organized? What tools do you use?
- Do you feel comfortable working with incarcerated individuals?
- Could you describe what you believe are the main requirements of this job?
Database Administrator
The interview involved using a laptop with only CLI access, which had Grub and root passwords that weren't provided. After bypassing these to gain root access, I was expected to write a shell script on the spot for multiple file manipulations. I was informed that untested changes are deployed to their production database due to its scale. The office environment was unpleasant, with top executives positioned to observe all screen activity. Unpaid overtime was presented as a requirement, suggesting constant crunch time. Overall, it was a negative experience with disagreeable individuals.
- Could you demonstrate how you'd script the movement of specific file types into dynamically created directories?
IT Support
Applied online and heard nothing for 4 months. Re-applied to a similar role and got a call/quick interview from a recruiter 20 days later. Then scheduled a team interview, which required a lot of Securus paperwork beforehand. The team interview was average. They were impressed with my qualifications and my qualifications and asked why they hadn't contacted me before. They wanted a follow-up interview with a larger team and a presentation. I tried to schedule this for two weeks via calls and emails, but got no response. I saw the same job posted twice since then.
- The questions asked were standard.
FSM
The interview process is pretty straightforward. First, you'll meet with the hiring manager. If they think you're a good fit, you might then meet with upper management, sometimes as a panel of 2-3 people, followed by a meeting with HR. Keep in mind that the recruiting process can take a while, so you might be left waiting for a few weeks between interviews. They use a CARL method for interviews, so be ready with strong examples.
- Describe how you would manage a conflict situation between two employees.
