It started with a recruiter reaching out. Since it was remote, all interviews were on the phone or conference calls. After a quick chat, an interview with the manager was set up, but they called me a day early when I was busy, maybe the recruiter messed up. The process was long and annoying. There were 3 rounds, spaced at least 2 weeks apart, taking about a month. It was frustrating because I had to chase for updates after each interview, and no one seemed to know what was happening. The last interview was strange; people kept coming and going, and I wasn't sure who was interviewing me or who I was talking to. I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to join after another interviewer finished. It was very confusing. After all that, I didn't hear back for weeks. Then the recruiter said the job wasn't remote as advertised and I'd have to relocate if I wanted to be considered. I felt tricked and that it was a waste of my time. Glad I didn't end up working there.

It started off super friendly and fast, they got the interviews set up quick. But then it went on for a while, I had to talk to 4 different managers after the initial recruiter chat. I thought the interviews were going great, I kept moving forward. But then, radio silence for weeks after the last interview, even after I followed up. It's wild to me that a company would just ghost candidates after the final stage. Usually, you'd get told if the role was paused or if they chose someone else. Definitely felt unprofessional.

I applied on LinkedIn and the recruiter responded quickly. We spoke a few days later. Then I had two phone interviews over two days with the manager and the head of the department. Both calls went well. The next week I interviewed with both of them. They said they wanted to move fast and it seemed like they were. The head of the department was very direct and wanted to make sure we were on the same page about compensation, which I was. The lunch interview seemed to go well, and they mentioned it would be good to get onboard soon because the stock options would be repriced. We discussed various things and had good conversations. One thing though, one of them asked if I had a family on the way to lunch. It seemed like small talk and didn't bother me, but it's not something he should have legally asked. I was told I'd hear back soon about their decision, and they confirmed this in an email. A week later, the recruiter contacted me to say the position was on hold for four weeks due to budget. She said she'd contact me when she heard anything. More than four weeks later, I emailed her. I was told they were interviewing more candidates. A bit over a week later, I finally got an update that she'd have an answer in about a week. More than three weeks later, still no word from SecureAuth. Some observations: the head of the department claimed to be straightforward and not waste time, which doesn't seem to be the case. The manager seemed a bit inexperienced and lacked confidence. What started out great fizzled out. Not sure why they couldn't just tell me what was going on or say they weren't interested. Not impressed.

I had a phone interview with SecureAuth and it was a great experience. My interviewer asked me to walk him through my portfolio and he had specific questions on some of my work. Three other people from the office were also on the line, so it was nice to get to know a little more about the other employees as well as the VP of Marketing at SecureAuth.
