Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SEC.
Legal Intern
Had one interview with 3-4 attorneys. They wanted to see my interest in the work and what I wanted from the internship. Also asked about my ties to the location and what I plan to do after graduation.
- What are your goals for this internship?
Paralegal
So I talked to four lawyers and the head of litigation. They asked me about laws and the work quality they expect. Each of them gave me a situation to see how I'd handle it. I answered them and then asked some questions back.
- Are you familiar with researching cases on WestLaw?
- Can you cite check using WestLaw?
Paralegal
It was a phone interview. I didn't meet anyone I'd be working with until my first day, which was odd and made me question if they really needed someone in that role. The recruiter I spoke with was disorganized and gave me the wrong salary information at first.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What are your career aspirations?
