& Process

The interview process was pretty smooth and short. I interviewed with the Dental Director and I liked how she was thorough and interested in all of my skills. She was also interested in my current day to day and what it looked like. They care about work/life balance.

So I had this initial phone call when I was still a month away from graduating. They initially wanted an on-site interview, but since I couldn't travel until after I graduated, they switched to a Microsoft Teams interview on May 9th. They mentioned a few times they'd prefer someone with more experience. Later, when I moved to Seattle, we scheduled an on-site tour for May 22nd. They mentioned a salary range of 115k-125k, but noted it would be lower for a new grad like me. The other providers and staff seemed really busy. It was pretty clear from how they questioned me that the providers are very protective of their patients. I asked for a decision by the end of that week, which they agreed to, but I didn't hear back until Tuesday, even after multiple attempts to contact them by phone and email.

I got a quick reply from SIHB after applying for two jobs in their Comms department. We scheduled a short 30-minute phone chat, and then within a week, I was contacted to set up a video interview with more team members. I withdrew my application because I got another offer, but the team was really professional and nice the whole time (even when I backed out). The Glassdoor reviews were kind of scary, but it seems like the comms team has a really good culture and might be a bit separate from any issues happening elsewhere.

I handled incoming phone calls, scheduled and confirmed appointments, and transferred calls to the correct staff or departments. I also checked patients in for their medical, dental, behavioral health, and other appointments, giving them registration packets. I kept an eye on wait times and helped clinical teams communicate with patients.
