I was called for an initial Zoom meeting and then invited for an in-person interview the following week. That interview went well, and I was told to expect a response within a week. It's been over two months, and I haven't heard back after sending a thank you email, a follow-up email, and a third email to HR about the job status. What started as a good experience became a disrespectful lack of communication. If this is how they treat potential employees, I can only imagine how they communicate internally.

We had a panel interview in a community room at one of their properties. It lasted about 30 minutes and there were three women of color. They mentioned that the questions were the same for everyone. I got to ask them questions. They really emphasized how challenging and stressful the job can be, and it sounded like a tough role for the pay.

I applied and was invited to an interview. No phone screen, was scheduled for an interview with less than 24 hours notice, and the invitation didn't specify virtual or in-person, or who would be interviewing me. They did send the 8 interview questions with the invitation. Turned out to be a virtual panel interview (I inadvertently showed up to their office in person). After the interview, I was asked to initiate a background check before I had received or accepted an offer. They were very kind, but the recruiting process deviated from industry standards and recruiting best practices.

If they like your application, you can expect to hear back in 2-3 weeks. An executive assistant will reach out to schedule your interview, which can be online or in person (mine was in person). On the interview day, you'll check in. About 10-15 minutes before the interview, they give you a sheet with the questions they'll ask. This is to make it more fair and give you time to prepare, though it made me more anxious. During the interview, you'll face a panel of at least 3 people, mostly from your potential team but with at least one person from another department to reduce bias. They'll ask only the questions from the sheet. Afterward, you'll get a chance to ask questions about the role. You should hear back within a few weeks, and I started about a month after getting the offer.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you tell me about your experience working with people from various racial backgrounds, especially those from low-income communities?
