First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sea Mar Community Health Centers.
Receptionist
I had two interviews for this role. They sent the interview questions beforehand, which was really helpful for the first one. That first interview felt more like an informational chat where they told me a lot about the company. The second interview was a bit tougher, and I didn't feel as prepared, but I think I still did okay.
- How have you demonstrated DEI in your past work?
IT Manager
The whole thing took about a month. There was one online interview on Teams and then two in-person ones, the last one was basically the job offer. The hiring process felt a bit disorganized. I had to go in person to sign stuff for work authorization and a background check (they won't send you a copy unless you ask). Then there was a DocuSign package with direct deposit info, NDA, non-compete, benefits, etc., but it wasn't a formal offer yet. They require COVID vaccination, which was fine for me. Be ready for an old-school company culture: no working from home, you're expected in the office five days a week unless the weather's bad. The dress code is strict: ties and button-downs, or a sports jacket/coat if no tie. Office hours are 8-5, which is standard, but as a manager, you'll likely work longer. Absolutely no blue or dark jeans allowed, no exceptions! Free parking is available at the HQ in South Seattle. It took two weeks to get a formal offer, but they pushed me for a start date before I had the official paperwork. Your first paycheck is almost a month after you start, so save up. They offer 401K but no company match, no bonuses, and you can't negotiate salary, even if the range is advertised. Benefits are decent, and PTO is good. However, as a manager, expect extra, undefined tasks, like working a weekend right after you start. They want managers to set an example. Communication is slow, but the people are nice and helpful. Seriously think it over and plan ahead.
- Describe a situation where you had to handle a challenging customer. How did you de-escalate it, and what was the outcome?
Coordinator
I applied for a coordinator position and was contacted by the hiring manager the next day for a one-hour in-person interview. However, the interview was conducted via video call. Despite being told I would receive a link, it was never sent. On the day of the interview, there was a 30-minute delay because the Microsoft Teams video call link wasn't sent, and my system required a login setup that redirected me to another organization's portal instead of SeaMar's. We eventually switched to a phone call. They didn't take responsibility for the meeting setup issues, and unlike other interviews I've had, there was a lack of professionalism. They also didn't introduce the other staff present, used the wrong name for me, and asked very few questions without any follow-up or information about the next steps. The interview concluded after about 10 minutes. I received an email rejecting me the following day. SeaMar is a great organization, but based on my experience and reviews, I'd suggest reconsidering the Spanaway site.
- Could you give me an overview of your resume?
- Describe your previous role.
- Are you looking for a specific salary?
Staff Accountant
I had a group interview with 3 recruiters who were not very welcoming. One recruiter seemed distracted, looking at another screen while I spoke. Another recruiter condescendingly laughed and scoffed when I described my software experience. The third recruiter didn't ask any questions or introduce themselves. They mentioned they have a lot of work and expect long hours, which makes me question if they value their employees.
- Can you tell me about your Excel experience?
- What is the largest balance sheet you have reconciled?
- Have you utilized Vlookups and Zlookups?
